Johan Backas

Johan Backas has 25 years of experience in the marine industry. He has worked closely with ship owners in all stages of the vessel lifetime from ship design to repair. He has a long history with Wärtsilä where he headed Wärtsilä’s Customer Service in Norway and held global positions in procurement. Previously he was CEO for a software company and a ship repair yard. Johan is currently CEO for an investment company that develops very early stage startups.

Prof. Kenneth Holmberg

Principal scientist and research professor in tribology, condition monitoring and operational reliability at the VTT-institute. Life-long engagement in studying friction and lubrication in mechanical systems including combustion engines. Multiple international scientific awards and honours, awarded e.g. with the highly distinguished Tribology Trust Gold Medal Award in 2017. Ph.D. in Mechanical engineering from Helsinki University of Technology.
